Job description:

A QSI Preschool teacher is accountable to the school’s Director and/or Director of Instruction and is expected to follow QSI Curriculum and Mastery Learning/OBE instructional practices. The teacher will promote and model the QSI Success Orientations, expect all students to be successful and ensure that a positive classroom environment promotes a high standard of instructional expertise.

Job responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and present lessons that align with the needs of the whole ability range with their class.
• Teach all areas of the curriculum.
• Employ a variety of educational technique to teach children.
• Take responsibility for the progress of the students.
• Organize the classroom and learning resources and create displays to encourage a positive learning environment.
• Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem.
• Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers or colors, do crafts etc.)
• Organize nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times.
• Monitor free time on the playground.
• Keep up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum.
• Encourage creativity and self-expression in children through assignments.
• Participate in weekly staff meetings related to the school curriculum, Success Orientations, for the better organization and administration of the school.
• Collaborate with school personnel.
• Support the school’s activity program by leading at least one afterschool club per week.
• Work requires frequent standing, sitting, walking and light lifting up to 50 pounds (23.5kg).
• Follow QSI Guidelines and Expectations as written and published in the QSI Employee Booklet.
• Organize and take part in school events, outings and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening.

Required qualifications

• Degree in education, with a focus on early childhood development/ Teaching certificate or Early Childhood certification.
• Proven experience as a Preschool Teacher.
• Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods.
• Ability to communicate with young children at their level.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English and Armenian for expressing or exchanging ideas, hearing to perceive information at a normal spoken word level and visual acuity for preparing and analyzing written or computer data.
• Patient, compassionate attidute with a friendly, energetic disposition.
• Experience in multicultural, multinational, and multi-ethnic environments preferred.
• Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Ability to build positive relationships with a high level of interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work well in a team environment; handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines
• Globally minded and eager to work with children from diverse backgrounds.
