Job Description

We are currently seeking an exceptional Senior DevOps/SRE/Cloud Engineer for a role offering flexible full-time or part-time remote work opportunities to join our remote team(s) and engage in short-to-long-term projects (ranging from 3 months to 2 years) as a contractor. Job responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for understanding requirements or goals in depth from both tech and business perspectives
  • You will provide solutions to improve reliability, including identifying and implementing mechanisms and architectures that enable fault tolerance and faster median time to respond and median time to detect
  • You will ensure and build the controls and processes for continuous delivery and evolution of infrastructure and applications, driving automation through all stages of the process
  • You will provide expertise and guidance in the areas of DevOps, cloud, platform, and infrastructure engineering, both internally and on client sites
  • You will be responsible for enhancing the incident management process, including the development of an incident prioritization matrix, triage, communication, mitigation, post-mortem analysis, and implementation of corrective actions
  • Collaborate closely with Principal/Architects internally and with the client as a Primary Expert to develop and lead client-side solution architects, recommending changes in system design and adopting best practices to enhance reliability from the outset.

Required qualifications

  • 4 plus years of relevant experience
  • At least 3 years of experience working with Linux
  • You have hands-on experience in programming and scripting languages such as Python, Go or Bash
  • You have a good understanding of at least one Public Cloud, e.g.: AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • You are familiar with DevOps and GitOps practices, driving the integration of observability automation into CI/CD pipelines, e.g.: GitLab, Jenkins, CircleCI, or equivalent
  • You have a good knowledge of container-based architecture and at least one of the orchestration tools such as Kubernetes, AWS EKS, Docker Swarm, Nomad, etc.
  • You have had exposure to observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, NewRelic, ELK Stack, or equivalent and you are proficient in using data from these tools to dissect and identify root causes of system and infrastructure issues
  • You have good knowledge of configuration management and Infrastructure as Code (IAC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation for provisioning and managing infrastructure
  • You understand technical architecture and modern design patterns, including microservices, serverless functions, NoSQL, and RESTful APIs, with experience in fixing bugs, analyzing logs, building metrics, and operational dashboards
  • You are familiar with creating infrastructure resources for improving the reliability of the system that follows the Cloud’s Well-Architected Framework principles: Reliability, security, cost optimization, performance efficiency, and operational
  • You have experience working with software delivery teams and understand DevOps philosophies, Agile methods, Infrastructure as Code, and how to apply them to your work

  • You’re comfortable partnering directly with infrastructure technicians, support and network analysts, security analysts, system administrators, and/or IT managers to design technical strategies while simultaneously collaborating with senior IT groups in an advisory capacity
  • You adapt effortlessly to uncertainty, embrace change, and confidently make decisions with limited information to achieve positive outcomes
